[click more for profile in English]

Dasapta Erwin Irawan was born in Surabaya 17 April 1976. He completed his whole education in Indonesia. He completed his PhD about hydrochemistry in volcanic area in 2009 (3.5 yrs)  from the oldest engineering university in Indonesia, Institut Teknologi Bandung. Working as a lecturer and researcher in his almamater, he builds all his career on eco-hydrogeology and hydrochemistry. He also focuses his research on applying multivariate analysis to understand how the water moves beneath the surface, as he likes to see charts and patterns. Most of his works relates with field measurements and computer codes (available on Github/dasaptaerwin). On his spare time, he learns a lot about open source apps (and yes that includes R) and scholarly communications. He believes the advancement of science lies on collaboration, transparency and willingness to share, not depends on the use of mainstream metric (eg: index and Impact Factor) to measure research impact. To give more contribution to science, he is now registered and actively work his role as contributor for AnakBertanya, science communicator for the ITB Graduate School and ambassador for several institutions: ORCID, Center for Open Science, ASAP-bio, dan Openscience Indonesia. Currently he is promoting the importance of self archiving via posting preprint. He along with several colleagues is initiating Ina-Rxiv, the first preprint server in Indonesia. Occasionally, he tweets as @dasaptaerwin and @openscience_ID. Some of his ideas and future plans can be read in his interview with ScienceOpen team, Dr. Jon Tennant, and his two blogs Hydrogeology dan OpenScience.
